About us…
Hello and thanks for visiting our “little spot on the web”. First and foremost this website was designed to share photo’s with our friends and family throughout the world. Thanks to the Army, we have been able to visit and ride our motorcycles to some of the most beautiful places you could imagine. Please stop by and check it out often as I hope to do a better job of keeping it up to date, something I have been slacking on for the past year or so. Sorry all…
Some of you have asked about how Corby and I met and started this lifelong partnership that we enjoy and love so much, as well as our lives for the past few years.
Actually the first time we met was through a mutual friend a local country club called “Scooters’” here in Lawton, Oklahoma. From the start there was just something magical between the two of us and we started dating. I was a drill sergeant in the Army at the time stationed at Ft. Sill, so I was putting in a lot of hours at work and the time that we did have together we always made the best of it. After a few month I came down on orders from the Army to move to Ft. Knox, Kentucky. I asked Corby if she wanted to go and of course she said yes. I got to thinking and I figured if she was willing to leave her family and everything she knows here in Oklahoma and follow me to Kentucky, she might as well do it as my wife, so I asked her to marry me. You know the answer…
We were married on February 22, 2000, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the Wichita County Court house. The date was actually picked by my sister, Julie. From that time on, the number “2” has been a special number in our lives. You can say that we do everything in two’s. I could give you a list of so many things that we can associate the number two with, but I will not bore you with it, but it is safe to say that the number “2” is our favorite number.
While stationed at Ft. Knox, we decided it was time to renew our vow’s and have a church wedding. This would allow members of each of our families to meet each other and for us to share this moment with them. We renewed our vow’s on February 22, 2002. Two years to the date, 2-22-02… Also while stationed at Ft. Knox we purchased our first motorcycle and started riding every weekend. That summer we put over 10,000 miles on our Yamaha V-Star 1100 Custom. We started riding with a motorcycle club called the “Blue Knights Kentucky II”. The Blue Knights is a law enforcement riding that is dedicated to safe riding and good clean comradeship, with club all over the world. It was now time to purchase a bike that I just had to have, a 1997 Royal Star Tour Deluxe, which we purchased from a very nice couple in Northern Indiana. I am now riding a 2009 Honda Goldwing. The Cadillac of bikes. Corby got interested in riding and after a few lesson from me and a weekend at the local college, she was up and riding on the V-Star. If you have never been to Kentucky before, you should plan a vacation there. It is a beautiful state and I think if we ever decided to leave Oklahoma, both Corby and I would look for work there first. We both loved the time we spent in Kentucky.
Next, the Army sent us to Germany the same month and year that I had 20 years in the Army. I could have retired, but we decided “why not”, we did not have any ties or bills at the time, so we accepted the assignment and were stationed at Kaiserslaughtern, Germany, better known as “K-Town”. It was right outside a major Air Force base and Army hospital so the neighborhood was very “American” friendly. Once we were settled and our bike arrived from the states we started riding with a Blue Knights chapter in Germany (Germany XII). All of their members were German Polizei (police). Corby and I where the only American’s in the chapter. Most of the members spoke English very well and they made our stay in Germany the most unforgettable experience that you could ask for. From rides to dinners, to vacations, to meetings, you name it. They took us under their “wings” and really took care of us. It is a true attestment to what the “Blue Knights” are all about. While stationed in Germany I did a tour in Iraq with the 95th Military Police Battalion and Corby learned a new career as a dental assistant.
In 2003, it was time to come back to Ft. Sill and get ready to retire. While still on active duty, we purchased Corby a new motorcycle, a Honda Shadow Spirit 750, bought a house in Cache, Oklahoma, and made the decision that we were actually going to stay in this area when I did retire. Corby started working on Ft. Sill as a Dental Assistant and is now an EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) and when I retired in September 2004, I started working for the Lawton Public School district as a computer tech. After working there a year I moved up to a new position as the districts “webmaster”. We are still very active in the Blue Knights. We joined the Oklahoma VI chapter where I serve as the treasurer.
So that is the story in a nut shell. I left out probably ten pages of stuff and so many wonderful friends that we met along the way, but suffice to say, that we are now blessed to have my grandmother living nearby in Lawton, and Corby’s family who mostly live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. My family still lives in and around Dayton, Ohio. We get back there about once a year, usually in June for family reunions.
My hobbies include bowling, motorcycles, wood working, computers, and MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games). We are currently playing World of Warcraft and have met many new friends.
Corby’s hobbies include motorcycles, Mary Kay, crafting, and also playing MMORPG’s.
Last but not least I have to mention our children, Sophia, Sullivan, and Sydney. Sophia is our West Highland Terrier who loves everyone, Sullivan, our Himalayan-Persian mix that we brought back from Germany and loves everyone too, and Sydney, our red Persian who is very shy and timid around strangers.
