Multi Wire Antenna 20-10-6 Meters

Okay, here is my attempt at a multi wire antenna. I wanted to try making a contact on 10 and 6 meters, so I figured this might be the easiest way. I picked up some 14 gauge stranded wire and some large pop sickle sticks. Right or wrong, here is are my figures for my lengths of each wire. I used the center freq of each band and used the calculator at hamuniverse.com

20M – 14.175 Mhz at 16′ 5″ for each leg
10M – 28.850 Mhz at 8′ 1″ for each leg
6M – 50.125 Mhz at 4′ 8″ for each leg (used the calling freq on this one)

You can see from the pictures below how I drilled and cut the pop sickle sticks. I used an 1/8″ drill bit and it was a perfect fit for the wire.

So now it is up in the air and ready to go. I have 1:1 SWR on 20M, about 1:3 on 10M, and since my tuner (MFJ-929) does not tune to 50 Mhz, I am not sure for 6M, but I do not get an high “SWR” error on my Yaesu FT-897.

I can pound both coasts on 20M easy, but so far 10M and 6M have been dead. I hope soon to hear something on those bands.

Enjoy…. Comments are always welcome! 73s Dave

Man, you are gonna make a HAM yet! Great job!

Great job on that multiband antenna. Bring it to the park sometime and we will use it to capture a few callsigns.

David, it looks like you need more firewood. A few folks in Lawton have extra, probably just for the taking.

Looks great, but I sure would like to see one. Hope you bring it to the park for the RIP program next time the weather is fitting,
